When it comes to wholesome foods you simply just can't beat Steel Cut Oats!! This food is great for your body for energy and its cleansing properties. I decided to make a nice pot of it and pack some for my breakfast for tomorrow morning at work. Here is how I made my oatmeal:

Ingredients

4 cups of Steel Cut Oatmeal

1 tablespoon (more or less to taste) Brown Sugar

1/2 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract ( I use Madagascar Bourbon Extract)

2 tablespoons (more or less to taste) Evaporated Milk

1/4 cup of Golden California Raisins

1/4 cup of regular raisins

1 dash of sea salt

1 teaspoon of butter or margarine

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Directions

Place 3 cups of water with a dash of sea salt into a sauce pot and allow it to boil on a medium heat setting.

Slowly start adding in the 4 cups of oatmeal and allow it to cook until all the water is absorbed and the oats are thick and creamy.

Remove the oats from the heat source.

Add in the butter/margarine, brown sugar and evaporated milk and gently stir until creamy.

Add in the vanilla extract in drops and taste as you go until it has the flavor intensity you desire.

Gently fold in the raisins and serve.

You can also add diced apples, sliced bananas or any kind of nuts-pecans or walnuts are best as garnishments to your oatmeal.

Enjoy!!
