Well, it's a Tuesday evening and I just got home from work about an hour ago and I was just going to have a cup of coffee for dinner and then I changed my mind. I only eat chicken and turkey so I had some turkey sausages in my freezer and decided what the hay let's make something. So I decided to toss in a little of this and a little of that and came up with my own Turkey Sausage Goulash lol.
I used Perdue Italian Turkey Sausage and fresh vegetables and spices to make this still in the pot slow cooking yummy creation. Here is what I used:
Ingredients:
3 Italian Turkey Sausages (whole-you will slice them up later as they are cooking)
3 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
1/2 cup of water
1 whole extra large white onion sliced
1 whole green bell pepper rough chopped
1/2 red pepper rough chopped
3 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream
4 whole medium sized white potatoes cut up into nice sized chunks (like you would do in a stew)
From my friends garden 12 medium small tomatoes diced in large chunks (these tomatoes are way larger than cherry tomatoes but way smaller than a normal sized tomato)
Loads of my favorite seasoning to my taste: Basil, Oregano, Sea Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Nutritional Yeast, Minced Onions, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, Spansh Blend Seasoning.
Directions:
In one large skillet pan drizzle the EVOO until the bottom is nicely coated
Turn your burner to a medium setting
Place the 3 Italian Turkey Sausages into your pan and cover
Add in the onions, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes
Add in the water
Add your combination of seasoning
Allow everything to cook at a slow simmer for approximately 10-12 minutes
While in the pan now slice up the sausages into bite sized medallions
Allow to cook another 10-15 minutes on a low setting until the potatoes are tender and your sausges are fully cooked.
Now add the heavy whipping cream and mix into sausage and vegetables until creamy and allow to simmer slowly for a minute or two.
Serve in a bowl with a nice buttered crusty bread or you can serve over rice!
Enjoy!!
