My daddy is 81 years old and I am 46 racing towards 47 at break neck speed. I remember my dad from around the age of 5 or 6 yes I can remember that far back!. My dad used to take me to Coney Island because I loved to be put on the baby rides!! The thrill and excitement of spending time with my dad was beyond happiness. My parents divorced before I was born so I have never officially lived with my dad as a child but we had our weekends. He ALWAYS showed up for our weekends never missed not even one. He was my hero and still is.

My dad is of a breed that no longer exists and I do not even hope to find one like him in my generation and I am not willing to delve into my dad's generation to find someone like him. My dad has a quiet strength and his strength is stronger than adamantium (only comic book heads will get that reference). My dad has NEVER physically disciplined me not even a pinky finger on me and he has always had my love and respect. My mother and her husband on the other hand that is an entirely different story...where they tried to beat respect out of me and it only trickled out then dried up eventually. My mom passed away over 13 years ago but my dad is still going strong.

We will be going on our first ever daddy and adult daughter vacation this year and I am so excited to be able to spend dedicated time with him. My dad is ex military and he fought in the Korean War and he has been all over the world during his military time and much more afterwards. My daddy tried to convince my mom to allow me to go with him on an amazing adventure when I was in high school but my mom said no and I totally hated her for that. Even to this day I have never traveled to the places I could have as a teenager. My dad went to Israel, Egypt and Paris France and even was baptized in the river Jordan in Israel the same place that our Lord Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. My dad initiated my complete passion for travel and adventure even being limited in his ability to take me places. Just seeing photos of him on a camel with the Pyramids of Giza in the background sparked the desire for travel deep within my nature. My mother on the other hand had never left this country and only lived in NC and NY and that was the span of her world.

I am so like my dad in just about every possible way. I look more like my mother but my nature is my dads. So Happy Father's day to my dad and may you get to enjoy many many more!!
